The Prairie Rose Public Schools Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Dr. Reagan Weeks has been chosen as the successful candidate for the role of Superintendent of Schools, effective November 1, 2021.

Reagan Weeks is currently the Deputy Superintendent for Prairie Rose Public Schools, having also served in the role of Assistant Superintendent from 2016 until last year. In her two senior leadership positions she has been responsible for designing and implementing education programming and services, leadership and management, human resources and promoting partnership development. This work has helped support a range of new educational opportunities for Prairie Rose students including the South Alberta Hockey Academy, the DR Flight Academy, and recently announced Prairie Rose Possibilities projects that include sport, agriculture, equine, fine arts and other unique student programs across the division. In addition to 20 years of teaching and school leadership experience, Reagan Weeks holds a Bachelor of Education degree, a Masters of Business Administration, and a Doctorate of Education from Johns Hopkins University.

The search for a new Superintendent of Schools began this past spring, following the retirement announcement of current Prairie Rose Public Schools Superintendent Roger Clarke. As part of the recruitment and hiring process, the board brought in an outside consultant whose experience ensured a quality slate of candidates were considered for the position.

“In the search for a new Superintendent of Schools, the board wanted to find a leader who was familiar with the unique challenges and benefits of operating a rural school division and with the knowledge, background and experience to continue with the successful programming Prairie Rose has built over the past few years,” said Board Chair Stuart Angle. “We are confident that Ms. Weeks shares the board’s goals and vision for success and will continue to help us move forward to build opportunities for students.”

“I am both humbled and honoured by the appointment to Superintendent of Schools,” says Reagan Weeks. “Prairie Rose Public Schools is an organization that continues to consider new and innovative ways of making learning meaningful for students. I am extremely thankful to be given the opportunity to lead the division forward as we continue to create new Prairie Rose Possibilities that take K-12 learning to the next level.”

The transition of the superintendent role will take place over the next few months, with Reagan Weeks officially assuming the position on November 1, 2021. The board would like to express their appreciation and thanks to current superintendent Roger Clarke for his leadership and commitment to the division. He will officially retire at the end of October.
